Oglebay Institute is a vibrant cultural organization committed to enriching lives through arts, nature, and education. We are seeking a visionary and experienced Director of Visual Arts to lead programming, operations, and strategic development at the Stifel Fine Arts Center.

Position Overview

The Director of Stifel Fine Arts Center/Visual Arts provides creative and administrative leadership for visual arts programming, education, and facility operations. This role oversees strategic planning, staff supervision, program development, and community engagement, ensuring excellence across all visual arts initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage visual arts programs, including school partnerships, workshops, and special events  
  • Supervise departmental staff and volunteers; oversee training and performance evaluations  
  • Direct strategic planning and budgeting for the department  
  • Manage operations and maintenance of the Stifel Fine Arts Center  
  • Coordinate with Marketing and Development teams for promotion and fundraising  
  • Maintain inventory and oversee ordering of supplies and equipment  
  • Represent the department publicly and serve on organizational committees  

Qualifications  

  • Bachelor’s degree in fine arts, arts administration, or related field  
  • Prior experience in the arts industry; administrative leadership preferred  
  • Strong organizational, communication, and team leadership skills  
  • Ability to manage multiple programs and collaborate across departments  

Work Environment & Physical Demands 

Primarily indoor work in offices, exhibition halls, and event spaces. Moderate physical activity; occasional event setup and travel. Dynamic, creative environment with seasonal programming and community engagement
